Brave Software, Inc. respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of our services to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA), we will respond promptly to claims of copyright infringement committed using our services.
Copyright Infringement Notification
If you believe that content hosted on or transmitted through Brave services infringes your copyright, please send a written notification to our designated Copyright Agent that includes the following information:
Required Information
1. Identification of the copyrighted work
- A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed
- If multiple works are covered by a single notification, provide a representative list
2. Identification of the infringing material
- A description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located
- Provide specific URLs or other identifying information
- Provide sufficient detail to allow us to locate the material
3. Your contact information
- Your full legal name
- Mailing address
- Telephone number
- Email address
4. Good faith statement
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
5. Accuracy statement
- A statement that the information in the notification is accurate
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
6. Physical or electronic signature
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or person authorized to act on their behalf

Counter-Notification
If you believe that material you posted was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notification with our Copyright Agent.
Counter-Notification Requirements
Your counter-notification must include:
1. Identification of the material
- Description of the material that has been removed or disabled
- Location where the material appeared before removal
2. Your contact information
- Your full legal name
- Mailing address
- Telephone number
- Email address
3. Consent to jurisdiction
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or San Francisco, California if your address is outside the United States)
- A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original DMCA notification or an agent of such person
4. Good faith statement
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification
5. Physical or electronic signature
- Your physical or electronic signature
Response Process
Upon Receipt of Valid DMCA Notice
When we receive a valid DMCA notice, we will:
- Remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material
- Notify the user who posted the material
- Take reasonable steps to inform the user of the DMCA notice
- Document the notification for our records
Upon Receipt of Valid Counter-Notification
When we receive a valid counter-notification, we will:
- Forward a copy to the original complainant
- Inform them that we will restore the material in 10-14 business days
- Restore the material unless the copyright owner files a court action seeking an injunction
Repeat Infringer Policy
Brave Software maintains a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts or access of users who are repeat infringers of copyright.
Repeat infringers are users who have been notified of infringing activity more than twice or who have had content removed from our services more than twice.
False Claims
Please be aware that under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that:
- Material or activity is infringing, or
- Material or activity was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification
May be subject to liability for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees.
Do not make false claims. You may be held legally responsible for damages if you misrepresent that content is infringing your copyright.
What Brave Browser Does Not Host
Important Note:
Brave Browser is a web browser application. We do not host, store, or control the content that appears on third-party websites when you use Brave Browser to access the internet.
Content We Don’t Control
- Websites you visit through Brave Browser
- Content hosted on third-party servers
- User-generated content on external platforms
- Search results from search engines
What We Do Provide
- Browser software
- Brave Search results (separate service)
- Optional services like Brave News aggregation
- Brave Talk video conferencing
- Developer documentation
For Brave Search Specific Issues
If your concern relates specifically to Brave Search results or indexed content, please note:
- Brave Search has its own index and operates independently
- Content removal requests for search results may require separate procedures

Brave News Content
For content appearing in Brave News:
- Brave News aggregates publicly available RSS feeds
- We display headlines and summaries from publisher feeds
- Content is hosted by original publishers, not Brave
- To remove content from Brave News, update your RSS feed or contact us
Limitations
Brave is not responsible for:
- Copyright infringement on third-party websites accessed through the browser
- Content hosted by external services
- User actions on websites they visit
- Determining the validity of copyright claims (this is between you and the alleged infringer)
Brave’s role is limited to:
- Responding to valid DMCA notices regarding content we host or control
- Facilitating communication between parties
- Complying with legal requirements under DMCA
Additional Information
Processing Time
- We aim to process DMCA notices within 2-5 business days
- Complex cases may require additional time
- You will receive confirmation when your notice is received
Incomplete Notices
If your DMCA notice is incomplete or does not meet the requirements outlined above, we may:
- Request additional information
- Reject the notice
- Delay processing until all requirements are met
