- Use Brave features including Shields, Rewards, Wallet, and Leo AI
- Install compatible extensions and customize your experience
Prohibited Use
You may not:
- Use Brave for illegal activities or to violate any laws
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack Brave Browser
- Use Brave to distribute malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Interfere with Brave’s services or servers
- Violate the rights of other users or third parties
Privacy and Data Collection
Our Commitment
Brave is committed to protecting your privacy. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal browsing data.
What We Collect
- Anonymous usage statistics (if you opt-in to P3A)
- Crash reports (if you enable automatic reporting)
- Minimal data necessary for optional features like Rewards and Sync

Brave Rewards
Optional Program
Brave Rewards is an opt-in program that allows users to earn Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) by viewing privacy-respecting ads.
Key Terms
- Participation is voluntary and can be disabled anytime
- BAT earned is subject to verification and fraud prevention measures
- Rewards may be subject to applicable taxes in your jurisdiction
- Brave reserves the right to modify or discontinue the Rewards program
Cryptocurrency Risks
BAT is a cryptocurrency and subject to market volatility. Brave is not responsible for changes in BAT value or losses from cryptocurrency transactions.
Brave Wallet
Self-Custody
Brave Wallet is a self-custody wallet. You are solely responsible for:
- Safeguarding your private keys and recovery phrases
- All transactions made through your wallet
- Any loss of funds due to lost keys or unauthorized access
No Recovery
Brave cannot recover lost private keys, passwords, or funds. We do not have access to your wallet or assets.
Third-Party Services
Brave Wallet integrates with third-party services (exchanges, on-ramps, DEX aggregators). These services have their own terms and conditions.
Brave Leo AI
AI Assistant
Brave Leo is an AI-powered assistant provided “as is” without guarantees of accuracy or reliability.
User Responsibility
- Verify important information from AI responses
- Do not share sensitive personal information with Leo
- Understand that AI-generated content may contain errors
Usage Limits
Free version has daily query limits. Premium subscription offers higher limits and additional features.
Intellectual Property
Brave’s Rights
Brave Browser, including its code, design, logos, and trademarks, is owned by Brave Software, Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws.
Open Source
Brave Browser is built on open-source software. Applicable open-source licenses are available in the browser.
Your Content
You retain all rights to content you create or store using Brave Browser.
Third-Party Services
Brave Browser may integrate with or provide access to third-party services, websites, and extensions. These third parties have their own terms and privacy policies. Brave is not responsible for third-party content or services.
Updates and Modifications
Browser Updates
Brave automatically updates to provide security patches and new features. You can disable automatic updates in settings.
Terms Updates
We may modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of Brave after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

“AS IS” Basis
Brave Browser is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
No Guarantee
While we strive to provide a secure and private browsing experience, Brave does not guarantee complete security or absolute privacy.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Brave Software, Inc. shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
- Service interruptions or errors
- Actions of third parties
Maximum Liability
Our total liability shall not exceed $100 USD or the amount you paid for premium services (if any) in the past 12 months.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Brave Software, Inc. from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of Brave Browser
- Violation of these terms
- Violation of any laws or third-party rights
Termination
By You
You may stop using Brave Browser at any time by uninstalling it from your device.
By Brave
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to Brave services for violations of these terms or illegal activities.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
Dispute Resolution
Informal Resolution
Before filing a claim, please contact us at legal@brave.com to resolve disputes informally.
Arbitration
Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in San Francisco, California, except where prohibited by law.
Class Action Waiver
You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits.
General Provisions
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
Entire Agreement
These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Brave regarding use of Brave Browser.
No Waiver
Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Assignment
You may not assign these terms. Brave may assign these terms without notice.
